LENS Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback and Biofeedback are both umbrella terms form many different types of therapies. The primary service I offer is a unique type of direct neurofeedback technology called the LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System). It is a specialized service only offered by 2 practitioners in the whole Okanagan/Shuswap area.
What is it?
LENS is a direct form of neurofeedback, meaning the client does not have to do any "work" during the appointments. It operates by lifting brainwave suppression, which can be a result of physical & emotional trauma. Suppression is a natural functioning of the brain, but sometimes those patterns can become reinforced and "stuck". This can result in physical symptoms, emotional disturbances, or behavioural concerns. LENS gathers brainwave data in real time and simultaneously emits a frequency which gently disrupts targeted patterns, allowing for new neural pathways to be created.
Who is it helpful for?
It works directly with the Central Nervous System and helps with many physical, emotional, & cognitive concerns. It is a helpful treatment for ADHD, chronic pain, concussions & traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, depression, tics & tremors, seizures, mood disorders, PTSD, hyper-vigilance, chronic fatigue, hyper-reactivity, nightmares, motor control, and more. It is also beneficial for peak performance in athletics or academics.
How long is treatment?
The standard recommended treatment is 10-12 weekly appointments however; some clients notice remarkable results after only a few appointments. Every client is unique and each session is based on that data from the previous session. Some clients come until their primary concern has resolved, others continue treatment monthly as a "tune up" because they enjoy the effects of treatment. There is also an option for more intensive treatment for clients who are travelling from out of town.

What to expect?
Sensors are placed on the ear lobes and in pairs at different "sites" along the scalp using a paste. Most clients notice during their first or second session that they feel very peaceful in their mind and more physically relaxed than usual. Many report feeling brighter and clearer. Some people say they feel tired, and others experience a boost of energy! Because every person is unique, so are the results. When suppression patterns are lifted, optimal brain functioning is restored; this looks different from person to person. Because LENS works with patterns, some people don't notice much during the appointment, but they do notice big changes during the following week. Many people report feeling happier than they have in years, major improvements in sleep, the inspiration to organize or complete projects they've been putting off, and feeling "lighter" or more free. Some notice immediate cessation of their symptoms and for others, it is more gradual over time.

Other Services
Focused Energy Healing
The purpose of energy healing is to create coherence in the energy field of the client. Working with frequency can eliminate disturbances in the field which may be linked to physical symptoms. I use various focused consciousness practices to do this. Energy healing can be done in person or anywhere by distance since consciousness is non-local and we are all connected through the quantum field.

Sometimes I incorporate other modalities such as Bodytalk, traditional Usui Reiki, specific breathing techniques, gentle tapping, muscle checking, or smudging.

For in person appointments, clients lay fully clothed on a massage table. By distance, there is a brief check in and then the rest is spent in a meditative receptive state. There is also an option to purchase this as a gift for a loved one.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy used to help individuals process and alleviate distressing symptoms associated with traumatic experiences. It can be used for past, present, or future events. It can also be an effective treatment for phobias, fears, nightmares, and physiological symptoms such as chronic pain.
During an EMDR session, clients are directed through a bilateral stimulation (BLS) process. Usually BLS is done with eye movements, but it can also be done with tapping or handheld buzzers. Back and forth eye movements mimics what our eyes do during the REM sleep stage, which is when our brains do a lot of processing. EMDR works with the brain's neural networks so it is not a cognitive "thinking" therapy. The brain will automatically go to associated memories or feelings which are most relevant for the healing process. EMDR can be done in person or virtually.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy can be approached from a clinical or spiritual perspective depending on the client's preference. Hypnosis is a state of very deep relaxation or meditation where healing is accessible. It uses techniques to help guide the cognitive/analytical mind to the side and speaks directly to (or with) the subconscious mind. Sessions may remind you of calming guided meditations you've tried before but hypnotherapy also often includes interactive conversation which is specific only to you and your goals. Can be done in person or virtually from the comfort of the client's own home.

Hypnotherapy may consist of:
-
Direct suggestion to the subconscious mind
-
Parts Work/Internal Family Systems (IFS)
-
Past/alternate lifetime regression (PLR)
-
Age regression therapy/Inner child work
-
Replacing old patterns and beliefs with new ones
